To complete helping you to plan for the wedding and for after the wedding, you will find below a complete schedule of what the week will look like

The Big Day!/Der Tag! (Wednesday/Mittwoch 8th August)

  • Arrival/Ankunft: 2:00 p.m./14 Uhr
  • Ceremony at the lake/Zeremonie am See: 3:00 p.m./15 Uhr
  • Reception/Sektempfang: around 4:00 p.m./rund um 16 Uhr
  • Followed by cakes and coffee/Dannach Kaffee und Kuchen
  • Dinner/Abendessen: 7:30 p.m./19.30 Uhr
  • Party: 9:00 p.m. until late!/21 Uhr bis in die Morgenstunden

Remember to bring comfortable shoes. The path to the ceremony at the lake leads over a green and during the day you can enjoy a walk over several acers of land.

Bring am Besten komfortable Schuhe mit. Der Weg zur Zeremonie fuehrt ueber Gras. Gut Dietersberg hat wunderschoene Wiesen.

The weather in August is usally dry and hot. But it can be a bit chilly at night.

Remember that the event is in the middle of the country side, so if you are thinking to go there by taxi there will be no Ueber and you get a taxi only if you book it at least a day in advance. Though, you don’t need to book a taxi for after the wedding (see below).

We recommend staying around the wedding venue close to Schönsee for the night of the wedding and the night before. For guides on hotels around the area, please visit the hotels section of our website.

Wie auf der Hotelseite schon angekuendigt, sucht euch ein Hotel in der Naehe der Hochzeit. Wenn ihr fuer die Aktivitaeten nach der Hochzeit bleibt ist es besser nach Neunburg von Donnerstag an umzuziehen.

We booked now a taxi service for after the wedding, which will drop you at your hotels close to the venue (Neunburg would be too far, because that would mean that the taxi is gone for 1 hour). The taxi is booked from 2 am to 5 am (thanks for filling in the questionnaire). To get the last taxi try to queue around 4.30 am. The taxi will leave from the car park in front of Gut Dietersberg (near the entrance to the appartment house). We calculated that it will be 5 Euros per person, which you can give to us afterwards. You don’t pay the taxi driver directly as we will pay them at the end for the whole 3 hours.

In der Hochzeitsnacht gibt es ein Taxiservice gegen eine kleine Gebuehr von 5 Euro pro Person gegeben. Das Taxi faehrt zwischen 2 Uhr und 5 Uhr in der Frueh (Danke fuers Ausfuellen des Fragebogens). Um das letzte Taxi zu bekommen rechnet fuer euch ein, euch um 4.30 Uhr anzustellt. Ihr bezahlt nicht den Taxifahrer direkt (da wir das am Ende machen), sondern gebt uns das Geld nach der Hochzeit.

Thursday/Donnerstag 9th August (the day after the wedding/der Tag nach der Hochzeit)

On the morning after the wedding we will have breakfast at the wedding venue. Some of us are staying over at the actual wedding venue and others will be close, we invite you over for breakfast around 9.30 am!

Ihr seid alle zum Fruehstueck auf Gut Dietersberg eingeladen. Fruehstuck beginnt ab 9.30 Uhr.

We will be there until 1 p.m. We will ask you in an Email if you want to join so that we order enough food for everyone.

Wir bleiben bis ungefaehr 1 Uhr auf dem Gut. Dannach werden wir entspannen.

Post 1 p.m we will pretty much die on any bed we can find! And we will see you the next day.

Post wedding activities (Friday and Saturday) – General info/Aktivitaeten nach der Hochzeit (Freitag und Samstag) – allgemeine Info

Wir moechten gerne mit euch ein paar Tage nach der Hochzeit verbringen. Wir haben die folgenden zwei Tage geplant. Fuer beiden Ausfluege haben wir einen Bus gebucht, der uns von Neunburg an die Zielorte bringen wird (Danke fuers Ausfuellen des Fragebogens. Es hat uns sehr geholfen mit der Anzahl der Sitzplaetze). Die Busfahrt wird eine kleine Gebuehr kosten, die wir euch spaetestens waehrend der Busffahrt mitteilen.
Ihr koennt natuerlich auch selbst zu den Orten fahren (Info ist unten mit angegeben).

As so many of you are coming from all over the world, we want to ensure we maximise this precious time with you all!  Therefore we plan two activities, one for Friday and one for Saturday for all of us to do together. We booked a bus for both trips to bring us from Neunburg to our destinations (thank you all for filling in the questionnaire to tell us whether you are coming with the bus). We will tell you latest during the bus ride the amount of the small fee for the bus.
Of course, you can also drive to the places with your own car.

The ideal place to stay from Thursday 9th August to Sunday 12th August is Thomas’s hometown of Neunburg vorm Wald. The bus will leave from Gasthaus Sporrer in Neunburg:

Post wedding activities – Friday 10th August/Aktivitaeten nach der Hochzeit (Freitag)

Weltenburg Abbey with River Cruise/Kloster Weltenburg mit Bootfahrt

We will drive directly to the cloister with the bus (there is no River Boat ride anymore!). We booked tables for lunch. They have a fantastic biergarden, and a spectacular church. It will be a lovely day out. Summers in Bavaria tend to be hot and the grown-ups can even bathe in the crystal clear Danube River!

  • 12:45-14:15 Lunch in the Klosterschenke (if you have booked this)/Mittagessen in der Klosterschenke (falls ihr dies gewaehlt habt).
  • 14:15-16:15 Time to discover the cloister, the beer garden, and around/Zeit um sich das Kloster, Biergarten und Umgebung anzuschauen.
  • 17:20-18:50 Bus back to Neunburg/Heimfahrt.

Post wedding activities – Saturday 11th August/Aktivitaeten nach der Hochzeit (Samstag)

Oktoberfest!!!!/Gaeubodenfest in Straubing

Hehe we got you! Ok, it’s not Oktoberfest but the SECOND LARGEST beer festival in Germany! (And probably in the world, let’s be honest). It’s called something unpronounceable: Gäubodenvolksfest.

Fuer den Samstag haben wir eine Fahrt zum Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing gelplant.

For the people that booked the bus, we will meet at 10:15 am at the Gasthaus Sporrer and we will leave at 10:30 am. We aim to arrive at the fair around 12:00 noon. The bus will drive back to Neunburg around 11:45 pm.

Falls Ihr den Bus gebucht habt, dann treffen wir uns um 10:15 Uhr am Sporrer. Wir fahren um 10:30 Uhr los um gegen 12:00 Uhr in Straubing anzukommen. Der Bus faehrt gegen 23:45 Uhr zurueck nach Neunburg.

What to do at the Gäubodenvolksfest?

The beer tents are the main attraction. We got four tables in the beer tent Lechner (Festzelt Lechner; seats: Mittelschiff R8 R9) for the people that booked the tables with us. We have to be there at 5pm. If we are not there within 10 minutes we will lose the table reservation (it will be busy, so we all have to be there, otherwise we might lose some of the seats). We start with dinner (everyone who reserved the table will have vouchers for a dinner and two stein of beer, which is around 30 Euros). After the dinner the band will start playing and it turns into a big party with lots of music, singing, and of course the beer that is especially brewed for the event.

If you did not reserve a table by now, please contact us and we will see what we can do. They leave 40% of seats unreserved, so if you are early you may be able to get a place in the tents. But we first will try to all sit together!

You can already visit the beer tents during the day and either sit inside the tent or in the surounding beer gardens.

For small groups it tends to be easy to find a place, but it tends to be difficult for large groups. Usually, the evenings are very booked, and thats why we tried to book tables for everyone who wants to join dinner and the entertainment afterwards.

Children under 6 can be with their parents only until 8 pm in the tents. Older children can stay until the end, but only with their parents.

Was gibt auf dem Gäubodenvolksfest zu tun ?

Fuer die Leute, die einen Platz im Zelt gebucht, haben wir vier Tische reservieren koennen (Festzelt Lechner, Mittelschiff R8 R9). Wir muessen die Plaetze um 17 Uhr einehmen, ansonsten verlieren wir die Reservierung. Mit der Reservierung gibt es fuer jede Person einen Essensgutschein und zwei Getraenkemarken (ca. 30 Euro pro Person).

Fuer die Leute die keinen Platz gebucht habt, bitte meldet euch bei uns und wir werden sehen was wir machen koennen. Die Zelte halten 40% der Plaetze von Reservierung frei. Wenn man frueh genug da ist, kann man noch Plaetze finden. Wir werden natuerlich zuerst probieren, dass wir alle zusammensitzen!

Unterm Tag, gibt es natuerlich den Vergnuegungspark zu bestaunen und den historischen Bereich.
